Save A Hero Day 2010

August 21, 2010--Kansas City, MO

Save A Hero Day will bring together individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations from across the United States in an event to educate and prepare families transitioning out of the military and back into the civilian community, and to support those in the military who are suffering from the symptoms of stress, PTSD, and suicide.  By partnering with likeminded civic leaders, businesses, and other nonprofit organizations, we can collectively address and meet the needs of these Service Members and their families.

The events of Save A Hero Day are intended to encourage families from across the Midwest and to support the families of Fort Leavenworth, Fort Riley, Whiteman Air Force Base, Fort Leonard Wood, McConnell Air Force Base, the Kansas and Missouri National Guard and Reserve Forces, Kansas City (MO), Kansas City (KS), and Leavenworth (KS).

Throughout the day, guest speakers will address those present; family support groups from the four bases will distribute information; and various non-profit organizations will be there to support those who need help and to provide referrals as necessary,

Save A Hero Day is free of charge.

The overall objective of Save A Hero Day is to raise public awareness of the issues that lead to suicidal tendencies; and to break the taboo that surrounds the treatment of the problems that lead people to consider suicide.  To that end, Save A Hero Day 2010 will support the people of our community by bringing families, individuals, organizations, and businesses together to help one another.
